How to Get There?
Step 1: Get to Cancún
The easiest way to begin this adventure is by flying to Cancún International Airport (CUN), the closest airport to our destination.
Step 2: Cancún → Chiquilá
From Cancún, there are several ways to get to the port of Chiquilá:
Ideal if you’re up for a go-at-your-own-pace adventure. Just a heads-up: cars aren’t allowed on the island, so you’ll need to leave yours behind in Chiquilá.
ADO bus lines offer regular, comfortable routes. Most safe and affordable option.

Step 3: Chiquilá → Holbox Island
Now the fun begins!
Two companies operate every 30 minutes, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
This was our favorite option—we even spotted dolphins along the way! There are plenty of speedboats available at the port in Chiquilá, each fitting up to 10 people. No need to book in advance—just show up and enjoy the ride!
You’re on the island!
There are no cars on Holbox, but no worries—there are plenty of buggy-taxis (golf carts) that will take you anywhere for a flat fee. Just relax and enjoy the ride.
